Cost Avoidance ChampionshipSince July, several EnergyPrint partners have been competing to see who can produce the biggest cost savings for their 2016 energy projects. Over the past several months, participating companies have been using Advanced Cost Avoidance throughout the competition to report results and maximize ROI for their client projects within the utility dashboard, powered by EnergyPrint.

With December coming to a close, competitors have been showing some inspiring results so far. Building Technology Systems is currently in the lead, with an overall cost savings of more than seven percent across their team. Although they’re ahead, there’s still time for others to improve their rank before the final results are announced in February 2017.

Highlights from the Top 3 Teams

From small operations changes and maintenance to equipment upgrades, our Cost Avoidance Championship teams have been working diligently to help their clients reduce energy. Here’s a look at some of the successes and best practices from our current top three competitors:

1. Building Technology Systems
Keeping an eye on energy performance can help detect exactly where clients could use a boost. Between identifying the issues using utility data and providing the most cost-effective solution, Building Technology Systems has helped their clients save more than $62,000 in energy costs during this competition – and that’s across just three buildings in less than 6 months.

2. Viridian
Leveraging utility bill data is a simple way to communicate results back to clients. Viridian has been using the utility dashboard to monitor building progress for several lighting retrofit projects. In just two months, energy consumption has dropped by an average of more than 10 percent for three K-12 schools, thanks to Viridian solutions.

3. McKinstry
Small changes can add up. With just doing some simple changes such as filter replacements and keeping an eye on data, McKinstry has shown more than $6,000 in energy savings across their customer’s portfolio of 4 medical office buildings.

Who will be the Cost Avoidance Champion?

The team that demonstrates the greatest percentage-based reduction in energy spend will be recognized in February 2017. The winning company will receive an EnergyPrint “Market Experience” package valued up to $5,000, and a $250 Visa gift card for the designated team lead.

Good luck to everyone in the final leg of the Championship, and may the best team win!
