John H. Suzukida, Founder/President, Lanex Consulting
John founded Lanex Consulting, LLC, in 2002, after amassing 22 years of substantial experience with The Trane Company, a global provider of HVAC systems and services. His positions there included Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Strategy, Vice President/General Manager for Building Automation Systems, and Vice President/General Manager of Trane’s energy service company performance contracting business.
Currently, under the Lanex Consulting moniker, John provides senior-level business consulting services to manufacturing, engineering and research firms. Most notable are Japan-based Daikin Industries (the second largest HVAC company in the world), McQuay International, StrionAir, American Air Filter, Energy Trust of Oregon, and New Buildings Institute. A licensed engineer, John has authored numerous articles for HVAC industry publications and is on the editorial advisory board for Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine.
John received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He is a member and past president of the university’s Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Alumni Board and a recipient of the College of Engineering’s Distinguished Alumnus Award. He has served on the board of directors for the Trane Federal Credit Union, and is a member of Rotary International, the Habitat for Humanity Speakers Bureau, and the board for Shoreview Area Youth Baseball in Shoreview, Minnesota.
Jane Sidebottom Morrow, Founder/President, Applied Marketing Knowledge
Jane’s extensive international business experience, marketing savvy, and fluency in Spanish, French and Arabic have burnished her reputation as a respected business expert. Currently, she is the founder and president of Applied Marketing Knowledge (AMK), a successful marketing and strategy services firm. With more than 20 years of impressive experience, Jane delivers practical and focused business results to AMK’s national client base.
Prior to launching AMK, Jane spent 10 years in progressive marketing and business development leadership positions within the HVAC industry. Her resume includes three years with Carrier Corporation’s Residential and Light Commercial Division. Most notable, she was responsible for the redesign and marketing launch of Carrier’s $2 billion split system product line to meet new SEER (seasonable energy efficiency ratio) standards. Prior to Carrier, Jane was global director of marketing for Trane, an international provider of HVAC systems and services. There, she played a key role in the company’s global market expansion with research, competitive analysis, sales strategy and public speaking as the company’s energy market specialist. She began her career in Washington, D.C., working as an industry advocate for the consulting engineering and construction industry.
Jane has a BA in international affairs from the University of Maryland. Additionally, she is a graduate of the leadership development program at the Center for Creative Leadership in Colorado Springs, and United Technologies/Carrier’s leadership programs at the University of Virginia.
Brad Schmidt, COO, Frauenshuh Inc.
Brad brings more than 25 years of management experience – 18 from the real estate industry – to his respected position as Chief Operating Officer at Frauenshuh, Inc. This Minneapolis-based company is a leading real estate development and property management firm.
His current responsibilities include facility and property management oversight for the Frauenshuh commercial portfolio, and company-wide management of financial operations, human resources, and technology. Prior to joining the company, Brad spent 34 years with U.S. Bank, the last 15 as Senior Vice President, managing the corporate real estate portfolio. During that period, he was involved with over 60 asset integrations, overseeing portfolio growth in excess of 15 million square feet. Prior U.S. Bank responsibilities include corporate controller of the South Dakota/Southwest Minnesota group of banks; controller, U.S. Bank Trust; treasurer, U.S. Bank Insurance and Mortgage; and senior vice president, Procurement/Special Services.
Brad earned a BA in Economics from Hamline University and an MBA from the University of South Dakota. He has and continues to be involved in numerous community activities in the Twin Cities and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
