Requirements: Buildings over 50,000 square feet not covered by city ordinances.
New Jersey
Requirements: Commercial buildings 25,000 square feet and larger.

Requirements: Commercial properties 10,000 square feet and greater and multi-family properties 15,000 square feet and greater.
Atlanta, GA
Requirements: Commercial and multifamily buildings more than 25,000 square feet and all municipal buildings.
Austin, TX
Requirements: Commercial buildings over 10,000 square feet supplied by Austin Electric Utility.
Boston, MA
Requirements: Buildings 20,000 square feet or larger, 15+ unit multifamily housing, all public buildings.
Boulder, CO
Requirements: Commercial buildings over 20,000 square feet and public buildings over 5,000 square feet.
Brisbane, CA
Requirements: City buildings over 2,000 square feet and private buildings over 10,000 square feet.
Cambridge, MA
Requirements: Non-residential parcels over 25,000 square feet, residential parcels of 50+ units, municipal buildings 10,000 square feet or larger.
Chelsea, MA
Requirements: Public buildings and 20,000+ square foot commercial, industrial, and multifamily properties.
Chicago, IL
Requirements: Covered buildings 50,000 square feet and larger.
Chula Vista, CA
Requirements: Multifamily, commercial, and industrial buildings 20,000 square feet and larger.
Denver, CO
Requirements: All municipal, commercial, and multifamily buildings greater than 25,000 square feet.
Detroit, MI
Requirements: All municipal buildings, as well as commercial and multifamily buildings over 25,000 square feet.
Edina, MN
Requirements: Buildings 25,000-49,999 square feet. 50,000+ buildings fall under state law.
Evanston, IL
Requirements: City buildings over 10,000 square feet, condo buildings greater than 50,000 square feet, all other buildings greater than 20,000 square feet.
Fort Collins, CO
Requirements: Commercial and multifamily buildings 5,000 square feet and above.
Honolulu, HI
Requirements: Buildings 25,000 square feet or larger.
Indianapolis, IN
Requirements: Buildings 50,000 square feet or larger and municipal buildings 25,000 square feet or larger.
Kansas City, MO
Requirements: Buildings more than 50,000 square feet, municipal buildings more than 10,000 square feet.
Lexington, MA
Requirements: Commercial and residential buildings of 25,000 square feet or more, all buildings owned or leased by the town.
Los Angeles, CA
Requirements: Municipal buildings more than 7,500 square feet and privately owned buildings more than 20,000 square feet.
Madison, WI
Requirements: Non-residential commercial buildings 25,000 square feet and larger.
Milwaukee, WI
Requirements: Government buildings, public schools 10,000 square feet and larger, commercial buildings over 50,000 square feet.
